Mental Illness in Shakespearean Plays

William Shakespeare is a quintessential part of the English Literature. His plays go beyond the scope of most writers. His characters are multi-faceted and almost human. In Shakespeare's plays, the tragedies especially, all of the characters’ emotions go beyond the basic range of mental normalcy. Most of his major characters in his tragedies have a diagnosable mental illness. The characters range from Macbeth to King Lear, to Romeo and Ophelia.
